Spanning 170 km along the glittering Adriatic Sea, this route connects Croatia’s medieval gem, Dubrovnik, to Montenegro’s multicultural haven, Ulcinj. The journey winds through fjord-like bays, Venetian-era towns, and beaches lapped by turquoise waters.

Begin in Dubrovnik, the “Pearl of the Adriatic.” Walk the ancient city walls or ride the cable car to Mount Srđ for panoramic views before heading south on the D8 coastal road.

Key Stops & Highlights

1. Cavtat. A serene seaside town with Renaissance palaces and the Vlaho Bukovac Gallery. Stroll the palm-lined promenade or swim at Pasjača Beach.
2. Montenegro Border Crossing. Stop at the Debeli Brijeg crossing (have passports ready). Switch from Croatian kuna to euros.
3. Herceg Novi. A flower-filled town with the 14th-century Kanli Kula Fortress. Sip Montenegrin wine at a cliffside café.
