Slovenia's Hidden Alpine Gem Among Europe's Most Beautiful Drives

Tracing the slopes of the mighty Kamnik-Savinja Alps along the Austrian border, the Solčava Panoramic Road is one of Slovenia's best-kept secrets and one of Europe's most spectacular scenic drives. The route winds through a pristine alpine landscape where time seems to have stopped—ancient farms cling to steep meadows, sheep graze beneath towering limestone peaks, and three glacial valleys reveal nature at its most dramatic. Far from the tourist crowds, this is Slovenia as it was centuries ago.

Key Stops

Solčava Village - Begin your journey at the Rinka Tourist Center to collect maps and information. Visit the Church of St. Mary of the Snows and the ancient Solčava yew tree via a short footpath.

Rogar Tourist Farm - The highest mountain tourist farm in Slovenia with guest rooms, perched at 1,250 meters at the foot of Mount Olševa with commanding views of the Kamnik-Savinja Alps.

Church of the Holy Spirit (Podolševa) - The highest point on the panoramic road, this simple but elegant church stands surrounded by the dramatic peaks of the Kamnik Alps. A truly spiritual setting.

Acidic Water Spring (Kisle Vode) - Near the Klemenšek farm, this mineral spring at the foot of Mount Olševa is believed to possess healing powers due to its high iron and carbon dioxide content. The water is drinkable but has an unusual taste

Klemenšek Viewpoint & Farm - The crown jewel of the route and one of Slovenia's most photographed locations. A short walk above the farm reveals a breathtaking panorama across the entire valley system. The farm itself offers traditional food and hospitality.

Pastirkovo Lookout - Another stunning viewpoint with benches and tables for picnicking while absorbing the alpine scenery.

Žibovt Tourist Farm & Wetland - A unique wetland ecosystem hosting more than 50 species of plants. The farm offers traditional Slovenian cuisine.

Gradišnik Tourist Farm - One of the region's traditional mountain farms offering homemade specialties and warm hospitality.
