Begin in Chattanooga, a vibrant city nestled along the Tennessee River. Fuel up and grab a coffee downtown before heading southwest onto Lookout Mountain Parkway (TN-148/GA-189).
Key Stops & Highlights
- Lookout Mountain Incline Railway. Ride the “World’s Steepest Passenger Railway” (72.7% grade!) to Point Park, part of the Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park. Walk the trails for views of Moccasin Bend and the Tennessee River.
- Ruby Falls. Descend 1,120 feet into a limestone cavern to see the tallest underground waterfall in the U.S. Open for guided tours year-round.
- Rock City Gardens. Stroll through ancient rock formations, lush gardens, and the iconic “See Seven States” overlook. Don’t miss the fairy-tale Enchanted Trail and swinging bridge.
- Covenant College Overlook. Pull over near the college campus for sweeping views of McLemore Cove and the valley below.
